HOLLANDFELT wool felt is a nonwoven textile material manufactured from 100% pure new Merino wool. Produced in Western Europe, the material is created through a traditional felting process that combines wool fibres with natural soap, heat, moisture and mechanical friction, resulting in a dense and durable textile without the need for synthetic binders. In addition to virgin wool variants, the material is also available in versions made from 100% recycled wool.

The wool fibres originate primarily from Merino sheep in South America, Southern Europe and Australia. During production, the fibres are washed, carded, layered, felted, dyed and finished before being converted into sheets and rolls in a wide range of colours and thicknesses. The collection includes solid colours, melange colours, mixed-dyed variants and recycled wool options.

Wool felt is characterised by a combination of functional and environmental properties. The material is naturally flame resistant, dirt repellent and moisture repellent due to the presence of lanolin within the wool fibres. It also provides thermal insulation and contributes to acoustic comfort through its sound-absorbing properties. Depending on thickness, sound absorption coefficients can reach values of up to αw 1.03.

The material is certified according to OEKO-TEX® standards and is suitable for a variety of applications, including wall coverings, acoustic panels, interior products, furniture components, fashion accessories, educational products and craft applications. Available thicknesses range from 1 mm to 20 mm, enabling use across both decorative and functional applications.

At the end of its service life, the wool felt can be mechanically recycled. The material is shredded back into fibres and reintroduced into the production process to create new felt products. For permanently installed applications such as wall coverings, the recyclability of the material depends on the adhesive system used, with compatible installation methods allowing for material recovery and reprocessing.

Additional treatments can be applied to meet project-specific requirements, including enhanced stain resistance, moth protection and improved UV stability. The material can also be cut, die-cut, CNC-cut or laminated with adhesive backing to facilitate fabrication and installation.
