Re-Tile is a collection of wall tiles developed by OVPolymers using a composite material based on recycled plastic and spent coffee grounds. Designed for interior wall applications, the tiles demonstrate how post-consumer and organic waste streams can be transformed into durable architectural products.

The tiles are manufactured from OVPolymers’ coffee-based Ristretto Polymer, which consists of approximately 65% recycled plastic and 30% recycled coffee grounds. By incorporating coffee waste that would otherwise be discarded, the material contributes to the valorisation of organic residual streams while reducing reliance on virgin raw materials.

According to the manufacturer, each square metre of Re-Tile contains the equivalent of approximately 140 cups of recycled coffee grounds. The use of recycled feedstocks is also reported to reduce carbon emissions compared with conventional ceramic wall tiles. The material contains a total recycled content of approximately 95%.

Re-Tile is intended for a variety of interior applications and combines durability with low maintenance requirements. The composite material is resistant to everyday wear and can be cleaned using standard methods, making it suitable for residential, hospitality and commercial environments. The natural colour variations created by the coffee-based composition result in warm, earthy tones that are inherent to the material.

The collection is available in several formats inspired by different architectural and cultural references. The Peru collection features a classic rectangular tile format, while the Rwanda collection consists of narrower elongated tiles. The Ethiopia collection offers larger-format panels suited to contemporary interior designs. Together, the collections provide flexibility for a range of aesthetic approaches and installation patterns.
